Tales from Celebrity Bootcamp

Arthur Murray Grand Rapids is ramping up for the VAI fundraiser April 29th, Dancing for a Vari Good Cause, where local celebs will be putting on the ritz for fun and ‘non-profit.’ For those who can’t attend, VAI has created an additional “Fan Favorite” award for the celeb who raises the most money for this awesome cause. All proceeds benefit disease research and science education at Van Andel Institute. To cast YOUR vote (for a donation), visit https://community.vai.org/SSLPage.aspx?pid=327.

VIP Tickets are sold out, but to check the status of remaining tickets or for additional information, follow this link: https://community.vai.org/SSLPage.aspx?pid=322

Local celebrities have been smoothing their moves at Arthur Murray studios in preparation to compete in the “dance off” — where audience members cast votes via donations ($10 a vote). Professional judges will also pick a winner. Here’s the low down on how the celebs are getting down:

Bill Simonson of The Huge Show – Word on the street is that Bill has found his hips and he’s got them moving. Meanwhile, Dickenson Wright attorney Pat Miles is getting the rep for resident ham. WZZM13’s Val Lego is ripping up the rug with “show-stopping energy” while  105.3 HOT FM Ellen Tailor is proving to be the best “smack-talker” in her efforts to out-psych her peers. Rachel Mraz of VAI’s J-Board is proving to be precision-driven and highly focused on her craft, while David Van Andel, chairman and CEO of VAI, is showing his competitive spirit with his “in it to win it” attitude. Stay tuned to see which ballroom bootcamper takes the win!
